The Inside Edge

Where I take you behind-the-scenes of this week’s @SkatingPj Podcast.

Every so often, when I would run into ice dancers Kaitlyn Weaver and Andrew Poje at a skating event, I would remind them that I was hoping to be able to record them for a SkatingPj podcast. In Regina, while at Skate Canada International, I got lucky!
We settled on a time following the post-event press conference when it was quiet in the media room and we started to chat. As is always the case with these two, no topics are off the table and they are always willing to candidly discuss their lives and their skating career.
Out of nowhere, a mystery guest showed up beside me. None other than 2002 Olympic pair champion Jamie Sale was listening in to our conversation and, realizing that we were recording, started to pantomime messages to the dancers without a lot of success. As Jamie tried to leave, I grabbed her by the arm and drafted her into co-host service.
What ensued was a relaxed conversation that has us all talking not only about skating but about Kaitlyn and Andrew’s relationship and their move back to an earlier free dance program (“Je Suis Malade”)  and the input that esteemed choreographer Lori Nichol had on that decision.
Skating fan or not – this is a fun one!

The Outside Edge

Where I highlight a video related to this podcast.

This is where I bring you something from around the web that you may or may not have seen before. I thought that given the nature of the conversation in the podcast; talking to Kaitlyn and Andrew about their return to “Je Suis Malade” that it would be worthwhile to take a look at their recent outing at Skate Canada International. I think the program is a tour de force and think you will too. Click on the picture below to watch the video.
