The Inside Edge

Where I take you behind-the-scenes of this week’s @SkatingPj Podcast.

About 4 years ago, I saw ice dancer Michael Coreno in a hotel lobby and asked what he was up to. He had turned his attention to coaching and I mentioned I wanted to catch him for a podcast.

Fast forward to the Skate Ontario Summer competition in Thornhill this past August and I saw both he and former dance partner Allie Hann-McCurdy and dragged them to a (not so) quiet corner of a back hallway to record this podcast.

A lot has changed for these two; they are now coaching together, have moved to Toronto and are getting married. There’s a lot to unpack in this podcast and as we are getting ready for the Skate Canada International event in Regina, I thought it was fitting to present a podcast from a team whose appearance at a Skate Canada event left such a strong impression.

In this case, I wanted you to see the short dance from 2008 that I liked so much. Allie Hann-McCurdy and Michael Coreno skated to “The Log Driver’s Waltz” whose music is very familiar to many from Canadian television back in the day. Check out the video at this link.
