The Inside Edge is where I take you behind-the-scenes of this week’s @SkatingPj Podcast. It’s a wonderful thing to be able to count on friends. I had hoped to grab a couple of interviews while at the recent Canadian National Figure Skating Championships in Ottawa but with one thing and another, it wasn’t to be.

I asked Kurt Browning to help me out and we agreed to make it happen as soon as we finished our Facebook Live for CBC. I didn’t really want to talk about the skating and results as much as I wanted to chat about what it had been like for him to be at Canadians. There were lots of laughs as there always are when I get the chance to talk to Kurt.

I know it’s a bit of a spoiler alert but we ended up talking about his t-shirt, the Beatles and a little thing that we likely won’t live down that we shall call the ‘mystery of the other guy’. I may have said too much.

This one is just for fun and I bet you’ll enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed recording it!

The Outside Edge is where I highlight videos from across the skating world and bring you a little bonus from somewhere on YouTube or beyond. I try to find something that you might want to re-experience. In the case of this week’s offering, if you love skating the way that I do, you will know this program. It is from the Canadian Figure Skating Championships in 1994 where Kurt Browning was having to come back from a 4th place finish in the short program. This Casablanca program helped him pull up to 2nd overall. What I love about it is the way that Kurt interprets the music and the story. One of skating’s greatest ambassadors: Kurt Browning.
