The Inside Edge is where I take you behind-the-scenes of this week’s @SkatingPj Podcast. With the help of Emma Bowie from Skate Canada, I was able to book a couple of interviews while at Skate Canada International in late October. Getting the chance to chat with Alaine Chartrand was at the top of my list. The only issue was the fact that we had to do this recording in a concrete stairwell – so apologies in advance for the hollow sound quality.
Alaine and I have had the chance to chat but only from either side of the Mixed Zone barrier. I know lots about Alaine and was really happy to have the chance to hear about her story in her own words. She is well-spoken, intelligent and passionate about figure skating. I was especially interested in hearing about the way in which she is supported by her family.
This is for the fan who already knows Alaine or the fan who would like to know more about her.
The Outside Edge is where I highlight videos from across the skating world and bring you a little bonus from somewhere on YouTube or beyond. I try to find something that you might want to re-experience. This is one of those moments. Last year at the Canadian Tire Nationals, Alaine took the ice for her free program and started what would be one of her best performances. When it was all said and done, Alaine walked away with the 2016 National title.
