Pj and Tatjana have been friends since 2002. Although, they are both typically working at break neck speed at skating events and haven’t always had much of a chance to chat. For this reason, Pj was delighted to be able to sit down with Tatjana for this podcast.

Tatjana is like a backstage fairy godmother to skaters and fans alike. Her role is to produce the previews and interim reports for the skating events that appear on the ISU website. Often she is called on to act as an interpreter in the press conferences for the skaters whose first language isn’t English. She is also the woman in the Kiss and Cry who can be seen and heard interviewing (and translating for) the champions at the conclusion of an event. She understands the pressure that is on the athletes and is the kind of respectful person that is the perfect choice in the backstage area. Tatjana is ready to support and help or fade into the background as the situation dictates.

That is only part of the story.

In the off-season Tatjana has been known to work in the Olympic News Service at Summer Olympics and other events. Her capacity for languages is positively enviable even for a language nerd like Pj. Tatjana has just finished a book about legendary pair champions Aliona Savchenko and Robin Szolkowy, but more about that later.
