Claire Wynveen holds an MFA in acting from York University and an undergraduate degree in film/theatre from Queen’s University. She was funded by the Ontario Graduate Scholarship to complete her studies at York and was awarded a university-wide award for her Master’s Thesis on Peter Bames’ The Bewitched. She has taught workshops and classes with York University, Queen’s University, Canadian Stage, Pleiades Theatre, Classical Theatre Projects and the Paprika Festival.
Claire is a founding member of Litmus Theatre, for which she has produced indie hit Matchbox Macbeth, performing as Lady Macbeth. Litmus Theatre re-imagines classic stories in inventive ways for urban audiences. The latest production from Litmus Theatre was Birth of Frankenstein which told the story of 18 year old Mary Shelley and the inspiration that spawned the literary classic.
Paul talked with Claire about her own acting origins, Litmus Theatre’s process, site-specific performing and the independent theatre scene.
